Information For Artists
If you’re a guitarist with an acoustic guitar album available, or even if you don’t have albums available, but you do have some high-quality music recorded and you’re seeking more exposure…you’re invited to submit some cuts to be considered for inclusion on our site.
Here’s how it works: We deal only with full-length, high-quality MP3s (128kbps minimum, stereo), because we respect our audience and want to provide them with something of value in exchange for their attention. We also know what we’re looking for. There are issues of recording quality, songwriting and musical accessiblity (among others) that go into the evaluation process. We are always interested in good stuff..whether from a recent album release or something that’s been out for awhile.
This is a free promotional opportunity for your music, not an internet radio station. In other words, you don’t pay us to be on the site…and we don’t pay you for use of your songs. We’re simply a free distribution point for your promotional MP3s…and because we have music from many artists, and because we are specific to a particular musical genre (or in this case, a particular instrument and its related musical genres), we tend to draw a sizeable audience that is particularly interested in the kind of music you record. We’ve done this before with a number of other sites, and the response has been wonderful…both from the artists (who tend to continue to send us MP3s from their new albums as they are released) and from visitors to our sites (who, in many cases, show their support by buying an album or attending a concert).
Because no money changes hands, we will only consider original compositions or public domain material. No cover songs. No issues with music publishers. If you’re on a label, rather than being self-released, you’ll need to seek their permission.
In order to give you the best possible exposure, we link back to your personal web site, and where possible, link to an online point where someone can buy your disc if they are interested.
The bottom line is: If you’re already happy with your marketing efforts…or you’re philosophically opposed to the concept of giving some of your music away in order to reach a wider audience…more power to ya. But, for those of you who see the changing nature of the recorded music industry and want to try to use the internet to expand their audience, let us know of your interest by sending a note from the Contact page. We’ll let you know how to get an MP3 or two into our hands, and we’ll see what happens from there. Thanks very much for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you!
